Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if Physiotherapy is the right therapy for me?
Show / Hide

There are many different therapy services available, for instance Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Alexander technique and Bowen therapy. Physiotherapy aims to identify the cause of the pain rather than just ease the pain, and this is done through assessing joint and muscle movement to identify abnormalities. We use mobilisations, massage, exercises and ultrasound as treatment techniques, and some physiotherapists use acupuncture and Pilates as adjuncts to treatment. If you are at all unsure as to whether physiotherapy is the right therapy for you, please don't hesitate to call me for a chat and I will advise you.

What happens at my first appointment?
Show / Hide

You will have a question and answer session to begin with which gives you the opportunity to describe to problem. It all also allows me to ask specific questions to help identify potential causes for your pain. After this, you will be assessed. This involves looking at muscles, ligaments and tendons to see if there are injured and also individual joints. Having had the assessment the probable cause of your pain and the appropriate treatment plan will be discussed. If you are happy to continue with treatment, there will be a treatment session at your initial consultation and you will be advised on an appropriate exercise plan to continue with at home.

How many treatments will I need?
